Yoga Bio

I am an E-RYT 500 Yoga teacher, YACEP, and a certified personal trainer.  My path to yoga started in 2000 when after 10 years of teaching group fitness, my supervisor at the Columbia, SC YMCA convinced me to take a weekend teacher training program. That weekend training program sparked my passion to learn more about yoga and share what I learned with others. Since then, I have had the great fortune to study with many amazing teachers. I completed a teacher certification program with Holy Cow Yoga in 2003 and with Carolina Yoga in 2009. In 2016, I studied with Jill Miller, and became a certified Yoga Tune Up® teacher learning how to add therapy balls and corrective exercises into my yoga classes. I have also studied yoga as therapy extensively with Doug Keller and yoga for scoliosis with Elise Browning Miller.

I teach an alignment-based yoga practice with an emphasis on taking the body through a full range of motion eliminating pain, strengthening musculature around the joints, and down-regulating the nervous system. My goal as a yoga teacher is to create a fun, safe environment for you to explore connecting your body and mind.

Sound Facilitator Bio

In 2024, I started my journey as a Sound Bath Facilitator. What began as a curiosity on how to use sound bowls that were in a cabinet at Corazon Holistic Health became a new calling. On my time off from teaching yoga I would pull the bowls out and play them. In March 2024, I decided to train with Arlyn Ruddy of Awaken Spanda to learn more about crystal and metal sound bowls and how to facilitate sound baths.

If you know me you know that once I find something that interests me I am all in. After this initial training and lots of practice, I added a gong and several types of chimes to my sound bath instrument collection. Recently, I completed my second certification with Kristin White , owner of the Sound Bath Academy. This training and mentorship helped me feel confident that this was something I was able to share.

I really believe in the power of sound baths as a way to help regulate our nervous systems, decrease anxiety, and promote feelings of balance and well-being.
